From the Pastor’s Desk

I mentioned in last weekend’s bulletin that we will pray the Angelus for vocations before Mass
and the Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel after Mass. This change will take place the first
weekend in October. Another change (especially at Saint Joan of Arc) will be the way we move
through the Preparation of the Altar and the Offertory. At that moment during the liturgy, we will
have a Collection (passing the basket) and the Presentation of Bread and Wine. Thank you to
our ushers who help with this at Mass.

I am happy to announce that a seminarian, Patrick DePew, will be a part of our parish families.
Patrick is studying at the Pontifical College Josephinum to be a priest for the Diocese of
Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Auburn in 2019 and entered the
seminary the following fall. As part of his preparation for the priesthood, Patrick will be helping
at Saint Peter and Saint Joan of Arc until his ordination in the spring of 2025. I invite you to pray
for Patrick and welcome him to our communities.

Please note some special events happening in the next few days. Our Venezuelan parishioners
are celebrating their country’s patronal feast day this Monday: Our Lady of Coromoto. This
particular devotion to the Mother of God is deeply rooted in the Catholic spirituality of
Venezuela. Also, our Theatine priests, Father David Arroyo, Father Victor Mendez, and Father
Salvador Cisneros, are initiating a Jubilee Year with their religious order this Thursday. The
Theatines were founded on September 14, 1524, by Saint Cajetan. We will celebrating this
solemn occasion with the Theatines for the next twelve months. Lastly, three of our priests
have birthdays this week: Father Victor (September 13), Father Elias (September 14), and
Father Salvador (September 16). May God continue to bless these men and their ministry!
